Explaining Mindfulness Class to Older Children

Mindfulness means paying attention here and now with kindness, curiosity, and without judgement. In the class you practice paying attention in a way that helps you live a happier life. You learn through activities, songs, discussions and art.

  • Calm down when you are stressed or upset (school work, peer pressure, and self criticism).
  • Discover ways to be kinder to yourself, others, and the world.

This way of paying attention is cool, because when you can observe your thoughts and feelings, then you can choose what to say and how you act.  Choosing your words and how you act can improve your life.

Mindfulness is used by professional athletes, artists, musicians, business people, teachers, healthcare professionals, and lawyers to enhance their performance.
